Today was an awesome day in the third grade! I was so proud of Lee and Anabelle for making so many connections with our text in reading group this afternoon. We spent the afternoon looking up
friction! We learned that some
surfaces cause more friction than others, friction can cause
heat, and that some objects get hotter from
friction than others! We recorded our notes in our mini notebooks and posted them with our
materials on the white board for Mrs. Surace to see when she gets back tomorrow! We also did a
demonstration for the rest of the class on heat caused by friction using a carpet square and some pennies.
Before I met this class, science wasn't so exciting. Now I am always excited for another day of science exploration. Just want to send a big thank you out to Anabelle and Lee for making friction so interesting to their classmates and their student teacher this afternoon!
Dear 3rd Graders,
Is there a reason that I might have made certain words bold in my description of Anabelle and Lee's work today? What do these words have in common? Leave a comment with your answer and we'll talk about it later on in class.
Ms. Julian
Dear Ms Julian,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are having such a great time learning about science in Mrs. Surace's class. Are the bold words in your post some of the force and motion vocabulary words that Lee and Anabelle found?
Don't worry if you are not the best at using a yo-yo. Just keep practicing and it will get easier for you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Fernald
